Update: 12:34PM THREE wooden bridges in Nausori will undergo maintenance at night between November 1-3.
Fiji Roads Authority CEO John Hutchinson said those bridges – Koronivia, Visama and Viria bridges – located on the outskirts of Nausori Town needed maintenance because it supported the movement of people and vehicles through the area.
He said unfortunately for Koronivia and Viria bridges, there were no alternative routes and this had resulted in arrangements being made to have the maintenance work carried out at night.
“Our contractor will begin work at 8pm and these bridges will reopen at 6am the next morning. Bridge closure signs have been posted at these locations in advance of the closure period to advise motorists,”Mr Hutschinson said in a statement.
“The contractor will be carrying out repairs mainly to the bridge deck and some traverse planks located just beneath the bridge deck.”
Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly on these dates if planning to travel to the area.
The Koronivia bridge located at Koronivia Road and the Visama bridge at Visama Road will be closed on November 1 from 8pm to 6am, while the Viria bridge at Viria Road, Naitasiri, will be closed on November 3 from 8pm to 6am.
