A brawl that lasted three minutes broke out during the match between Burenitu Cowboys and Makoi Bulldogs at the Bidesi grounds in Suva today.

This forced the referee to call off the match.

The Fiji National Rugby League in a statement said it would review the match against the two teams.

FNRL confirmed the brawl had also involved spectators and club officials who spilled onto the field.

“The brawl lasted at least three minutes before police and security officials dispersed the crowd,” the FNRL stated.

“The FNRL judiciary will sit Monday to review the match before charges will be laid. The FNRL has made it clear that it  has a zero tolerance rule for violence involving rugby league participants.”

FNRL said clubs could face a hefty fine and players involved could miss the whole season including representative matches.
