An all-out brawl involving scores of people – both young and old – in Jittu Estate, Suva last Sunday was “the eruption of small skirmishes” that was taking place in the community over the past week.

Residents who spoke to The Fiji Times on the condition of anonymity said trouble had been brewing in the community with a series of incidents involving women which began last Thursday.

They also claimed residents were making “homebrew” and breaking curfew to hold drinking parties every weekend.

A video of the Sunday brawl which went viral on social media platforms showed residents breaking COVID-19 social distancing protocols, with none of them wearing masks as they engaged in a running battle through Gaji Rd.
