Boy, 4, in hospital after fall

POLICE are calling on parents seeking shelter at evacuation centres around the country to ensure their children were supervised at all times.

Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho made the plea after a four-year-old boy fell from a double-storey building at Nadi Technical College which was used as an evacuation centre. The boy is admitted in hospital.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said the incident raised the issue of parental responsibility.

“That is worrying. We call on parents and guardians to look after their young ones when they are there,” he said.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said three people were injured on Kadavu when Severe Tropical Cyclone Keni hit the island this week.

However, there have been no reports of deaths received from his officers stationed at the island.
