AFTER 21 years, boxing lovers in Ba will be able to witness a professional boxing program. This was revealed yesterday by promoter Freddy Mukesh Chand.
“The last professional boxing program held in Ba was when Sakaraia Ve fought Junior Birbal in the main bout,” Chand of South Pacific Boxing Promotions, said.
Fans can expect 11 professional bouts which have been lined up with five exhibition bouts. Chand said the promotion had been endorsed by the Boxing Commission of Fiji.
“Response is good in Ba and Savenaca Naliva Jr will be fighting for two titles in the light heavy weight division against John Karaoke, who is the champion in his weight division in Papua New Guinea.
“Eleven professional bouts have been lined up with five exhibition fights which will be 3×2 minutes, featuring children under 12 years.”
The promotion titled ‘Double International Title Rumble,’ will have two vacant international titles to be fought for in the main bout.
They are the World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific title and Pro-Box Pacific title.
Ticket prices range from $30 for ringside whilst $20 applies to the centre stage and $15 for patrons opting to have a view of the bouts from the side pavilion, which can cater for only 1000 people.
The program is expected to start at 2.30pm.
