NATIONAL reps Litia Tikoisuva and Surend Prasad bombed out of the World Champion of Champions at the St Johns Park Bowls Club greens in Sydney, Australia.

Evergreen Tikoisuva was the best performer after recording seven wins and five losses.

She was placed in sixth position after the sectional play and after missing out on the eliminations.

Tikoisuva defeated Caroline Lehmann (Switzerland) 15-5, 10-3; Judith Wason (Wales) 12-4, 13-1; Hazel Bagshaw (Cyprus) 17-4, 8-9, 4-2; Ruthy Gilor (Israel) 8-9, 10-8, 4-0; Alicia Weir (Ireland) 11-4, 9-6; Janice Pilling (Isles Of Man) 8-7 12-10 and Hilda Tam (Macau) 9-8, 14-4.

She lost to Sue Bryant (Thailand) 8-7, 13-1; Marietjie van den Bergh (Namibia) 10-4, 9-8, Anne Nunes (United States) 3-12, 11-4, 3-0; Carmen Anderson (Norfolk Islands) 6-6, 21-1 and top seed Alyani Jamil (Malaysia) 9-6, 8-7.

Fiji team manager Abdul Kalim said Tikoisuva found her form in the middle stages of her sectional games, but could not build on the momentum.

“Going into the last three rounds, she needed to win all matches to qualify to the next stage,” Kalim said.

“She was in a tough section and the loss to Alyani of Malaysia meant that the other results needed to go her way which did not eventuate.”

Surend Prasad, making his international debut, won only one out of 12 matches.

Tikoisuva and Prasad qualified for the World Champion of Champions after winning the National Singles Championship last year.
