Mineral Resources Department staff has carried out inspections of boreholes on Kia and Mali Islands.

They also took water to the two islands that were affected by tropical cyclone Yasa.

The assessment phase has been completed and the team is currently working on rehabilitation works, the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.

A compressor was dropped off at Kia Island last weekend by the Australian Defense Force (ADF) to assist in cleaning all the boreholes around the Island.

The compressor was dragged 500 meters from the beach to the valley with the villagers assistance.
