THE Raiwai Volleyball Association has been rewarded in teaming up with the Fiji National Sports Commission’s Train the Trainer program last year.

In return, RVA has received help from the commission to develop the sport in Raiwai and surrounding areas. RVA president Francis Lanyon acknowledged the commission for its support.

“We are grateful to the Fiji National Sports Commission,” Lanyon said.

“Our players attended the training program last year and it helped in the running of our association.

“This year the FNSC has stepped in to assist us as we’ve been lacking in finance and sports gear. We are thankful for the support.”

Commission development officer Saula Koroi said the help would boost the sport in Raiwai.

“We believe in supporting the grassroots level and in community-based sports,” he said.

“There shouldn’t be any problem at the national level and that’s why we are targeting the community level all over the country.”

Meanwhile, the commission donated volleyball nets and balls plus a sum of money to support RVA.
