Rugby Academy Fiji received a major boost last week after Australia’s High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes, handed over rugby training equipment to the academy to help develop young rugby players in Fiji.

The academy which is run by former Flying Fijian, Seremaia Bai, helps to develop and inspire young local kids who are enthusiastic about the sport.

The program also includes a number of former professional players who coach and share the knowledge of the game both on and off the field.

During the handover Mr Feakes said, “Australia is pleased to support the development of grassroots Fijian rugby and its future stars by providing equipment to the Rugby Academy Fiji. As a former national rep, Seremaia, and the other coaches are doing a fantastic job in sharing the love of rugby and important skills to the kids in the program.”

Following the handover Mr Feakes also got a chance to participate in a few of the drills and was impressed with the level of skills already shown by the children in the program.
