BASIC Industries Ltd has jumped on board to sponsor the Aglime Naiyala 7s which will be held on the September 7-8 at the Naiyala Secondary School ground in Tailevu.

The Aglime Naiyala 7s is one of the oldest tournaments in Fiji and has been produced many top sevens players.

President of Naiyala Old Scholars Association Josevata Tuisavulo was grateful with the $5000 sponsorship from the company which will enable them to host the 30th Naiyala 7s tournament this weekend.

“We would like to thank the company for their sponsorship which is something we have been looking for in the past years,” said Tuisavulo.

“One of the struggles that we faced in previous years was looking for sponsors and last year the company stepped in to help us in running this tournament.

“For the past 28 years we have been hosting this tournament using our own money and do fundraising and sometimes we tend to use money that we got from the school fees.”

Basic Industries CEO Mosese Volavola said it’s about giving back to the community and it was very vital they kept their relationship with this community as they had a piece of land allocated to the company. “We have an operation down in Wainibuka next to Naiyala.

Our limestone resources are located in that area which is our raw materials for the Aglime.

“This is the second year the company has sponsored the Naiyala 7s and it’s all about giving back to the community by utilising the talent they have.”
