Fiji Rugby Union president and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama received two buses from the ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, Qian Bo at Albert Park in Suva yesterday.
In a continued partnership between the two countries, Bainimarama thanked the China for the help saying the timely aid to the Fiji Rugby Union would help save transportation costs.
“The two new buses will lighten costs of $500,000 annually in transporting our Fiji and Fijiana 7s players to and from training,” PM Bainimarama said.
FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor said the donation was a timely boost for Fiji Rugby Union, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions across the country.
“After looking at the costs in terms of transportation every year and the number of teams we have in camp at times, this will save funds that can be used in other areas of operations,” O’Connor said.
