The Fiji Judo Association is set to receive a timely boost from one of its partners, Ryutsu Keizai University in Japan which has gifted judo equipment to help the sport.

“Ryutsu Keizai University judo head coach Iwasaki Takashi has been developing and helping coach Fiji judokas for about 30 years,” Fiji Judo Association general secretary Jo Naulu said fromufrom Japan yesterday.

“Through his work we were fortunate to receive judo mats and recycled judogi uniforms from Japan.

“The assistance includes judo mats, judo uniforms and about 2000 educational books for children.”

Naulu said with COVID-19 affecting sports in Fiji, the help was a timely boost for Fiji judokas.

“Due to the COVID-19 all our activities have been suspended. This has given Fiji Judo Association time to restructure our programs and align itself to international standards.

“We are very fortunate that the International Judo Federation has stepped in to assist us in transporting the equipment over to Fiji.”

The equipment is expected to arrive in the country this month.
