Bookings look solid

Tourism bookings from the Canadian market are well above the 2019 level while that of the Northern American market looks solid.

Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill said the Nadi Vancouver promotional flight allowed the team to seal the deal and carried out a lot of work in terms of marketing in these particular markets.

“North America is really solid and Canada already is above 2019 levels with the work being done on the Vancouver launch,” Mr Hill said.

“We are now 120 per cent to 2019 for Canada so that is wonderful to see that growth already.

“A lot of work is going into US as well it’s a key market, for example the recent trade trip done in North America. It’s going well.”

Mr Hill said the journey so far had been somewhat exciting and the fact that the tourist numbers were filtering through to smaller tourism operators were welcoming.

He mentioned visitors had made use of exclusive offers available at the Sun Coast, Taveuni, and Savusavu and even out to Lau.

“We are seeing smaller operators working hard and doing well.

“It’s exciting to see operators like Surf Dive & Ski Denarau, Zipline, Fiji Surf Co and even village tours be in demand.

“Occupancy is very strong and we are currently tracking above 2019 levels which is unbelievably good.”

Mr Hill added local tourism properties were doing very well and occupancy are above 80 per cent through mid- September. Meanwhile, a total of 70,100 visitors visited Fiji in August.
