Boats benefit 2 schools

IT’S a dream come true for students of Moala and Matuku after Government provided the two schools on the islands with two new boats and engines to help transport students.

For a long time students have had to travel in paddle boats to school.

“Our children have faced difficulties in reaching their schools on time but now we are happy that the new boats will make their lives easier. Children from other schools on the islands will also use the boats,” Cakova District School representative Filipe Jitoko.

Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy said the assistance was part of Government’s initiative to ensure students in maritime areas had better access to education.

The Ministry of Education has so far assisted more than 55 schools with boats and engines under its transport assistance program.

Cakova and Delaiverata district schools are the latest beneficiaries.
