THE Vodafone Lautoka football team will spend a few days of training in New Zealand before returning to prepare for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Championship home and away semi-finals against Marist FC of Vanuatu.

The Blues created history — qualifying for the semi-finals of the regional tournament for the first time after defeating Tahiti’s AS Dragon 2-1 in the quarter-finals in Papeete last Sunday.

The Lautoka team is based at the OFC Academy in Auckland and is expected to jet into the country by the weekend.

Lautoka will host Marist FC at Churchill Park in the first semi-final match on April 22 with the return match to be played at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara on April 29.

The other semi-final will be an all New Zealand affair with nine-time champions Auckland City taking on Team Wellington.

The first match will be played at the David Farrington Park in Wellington on April 22 while Auckland will host the second leg at Kiwitea Street on April 29.

The home and away finals will be held next month with the champion securing a spot at the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates from December 12-22.
