Blues’ next target

LAUTOKA will turn their focus on maintaining the lead in the Vodafone Premier League after losing to Nadi in the semi-final of the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants yesterday.

There were a lot of expectations from the General Machinery-sponsored Blues to defend the title but came up short despite dominating possession and territory.

Nadi finally broke a two-year losing streak against their neighbours winning a penalty shootout at Churchill Park.

Lautoka coach Kamal Swamy said they created many opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.

Swamy said Nadi was a vastly improved side.

“Penalty is anybody’s game,” he said.

“We missed Osea Vakatalesau. He would have made a difference in attack.

“The pressure was on us to perform. We will now concentrate on the VPL.”

Lautoka is unbeaten after eight matches in the VPL.
