LAUTOKA needs a draw in the remaining game against Rewa next week to win the Vodafone Premier League title for the second year running.

The Blues have recorded eight wins, four draws and a loss in the competition and is at the top of the competition with 28 points.

Lautoka is six points ahead of Ba on the points table which has two matches remaining.

Despite the VPL being on a short break because of the Vodafone national side’s international commitments, Lautoka has opted to continue the training sessions.

Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said they had renewed Solomon Islander Benjamin Totori contract for the new season.

Kadar said with the new transfer window now open, they will try to secure some quality players to boost the side since they had qualified for the 2019 Oceania Football Confederation Champions League.

“The focus right now is on securing the VPL title,” he said. “We just need a draw to secure that top position.

Four of our players, Kavaia Rawaqa, Dave Radrigai, Kolinio Sivoki, and Zibraaz Sahib are part of the national training squad for the international matches.

“The remaining players are training daily. We want to finish the season on a high and start off the new season by performing well during the Courts Inter District Championship.”

Lautoka has won the national league competition on four previous occasions.

The Sugar City side won the IDC title last year after defeating Ba during the penalty shootout in the final. Lautoka reached the final of the OFC Champions League this year.
