THE Lautoka football team will miss the services of last year’s Courts Inter-District Championship hero Senirusi Bokini.

Bokini, the replacement goalkeeper, saved Lautoka in the IDC final penalty shootout against Ba.

He will not play this weekend because of work commitments and will be replaced by Viliame Tabucala.

Team president Abdul Kadar confirmed this yesterday saying the absence of Bokini would not affect the team’s preparation, especially with the services of Beniamino Mateinaqara and upcoming goalkeeper Tabucala.

“We will miss the services of our last year’s hero, but he will be replaced by another hero in Tabucala,” Kadar said.

“Tabucala was also a star in the Press Football Club team that won the National Club Championship. He saved his side on penalty shoot-out in the final.”

Kadar said the first pool game against Ba today at 8pm would be a replay of last year’s final.

“We played Ba in last year’s final and this will be another final for us. “We have prepared well and we need to do well in our first game to set our platform for the tournament. “Defending the title is not easy and we will treat all game as the final.”

He thanked the fans for their continued support. He urged fans to turn out in huge numbers and support the players.

Kadar thanked few organisations who had assisted the side in this year’s preparation.

Lautoka is pooled with Ba, Labasa and Nasinu. The much anticipated Lautoka vs Ba clash is scheduled tonight at the ANZ Stadium
