France will contribute to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Blackrock Camp in Nadi, says French Ambassador for the Indo-Pacific region, Marc Abensour.

“We will have an expert that will start working there next August,” Mr Abensour said at a news conference last Tuesday.

“He will mainly cover two areas, peacekeeping operations and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).

“This is very much in line with the approach to work and partner with Pacific Islands to fully contribute to good coordination in the region.”

Mr Abensour met Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Fisheries and Forestry Minister Kalaveti Ravu, and RFMF director international defence corporation Lt Col Esira Kulavati.

His visit was to discuss and develop further collaboration in the Indo-Pacific and increase French presence in the region.
