Bishop tipped as next PM

RAROTONGA – An Opposition Party coalition in Cook Islands is in the making ahead of the scheduled sitting of Parliament on October 8.

Former cabinet minister Teina Bishop is reportedly going to head the possible coalition which plans to form the next government.

Mr Bishop broke away from the Cook Islands Party government in April resulting in the calling of the July 9 general election.

He formed the political movement One Cook Islands in April along with former CIP MP George Maggie.

Now the Democratic Party is negotiating a coalition which would see Mr Bishop become the next Prime Minister.
