There are hopes of more medals for Team Fiji at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

This is according to Team Fiji general manager Ajay Ballu who said the bronze medal win by Taniela Rainibogi should inspire other athletes.

“Taniela came to win in his event. When he started competing, we knew he was going to get a medal today. He competed with a lot of pride and passion and that is what we expect from athletes at this level,” Ballu said.

He added the athletes taking part in their events in the remaining competitions would take a lot of inspiration from Rainibogi’s win.

“In sports, on a given day anything is possible if the athletes live up to it.

“We know there are athletes from other nations who are better prepared and who are professionals in their field but our athletes have the capabilities to match them and some results have proven that.”

Fiji will be in action in weightlifting, swimming, judo and lawn bowls today.
