Birmingham 2022: Australia deny Fiji gold medal; Fijiana 7s win silver

The Fijiana 7s team fell short of a gold medal win to Australia, going down 22-12 at the Commonwealth Games women’s final in Birmingham this morning.

The Aussies, beaten by Fiji 19-12 in pool play, dominated the game to race away to a 22-0 lead at halftime.

The Fijiana fought back hard with tries to Ana Naimasi and Sesenieli Donu.

The tries for Australia came through Faith Nathan who touched down two tries, and Madison Ashby, Maddison Levi – a try each.
