THE Fiji cricket team hopes to win today’s game against Samoa if they want to qualify for the 2020 ICC World T20 Championship.

The Fiji team lost both of its games against Vanuatu and PNG during the 2020 ICC World T20 Qualifier in Suva yesterday.

The Fiji cricket captain Sekove Ravoka said they were ready to give their best shot in their last game against Samoa this afternoon.

“We have one more chance with us in playing against Samoa and we are ready to perform our best come tomorrow (today),” Ravoka said.

“It’s a do or die game for us since we are aiming for a win in order for us to be second in the competition. “Tomorrow (today) I think the boys will do their best and come out with a victory after the game.”

Fiji head coach Iniasi Cakacaka said yesterday’s performance was very low after two losses and they needed to step up.

“The team knows what is expected from them in their last game against Samoa and we can’t afford to lose this match,” Cakacaka said.

“We are working on our fielding in terms of change of bowlers and the change of the middle order batsmen. “The staff are also working on putting some new players who have not yet played in this tournament for this game”

Cakacaka stated that it’s going to be a big day as they are aiming to win their last match.

“We are expecting a big crowd in our game with Samoa and it’s a must win game for us,” he said.

“A win against Samoa will guarantee us the second place and qualify for the T20 championship.”
