TOURISM Fiji is focused on raising the profile of niche experiences within Fiji in 2019.

Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government and Community Development Premila Kumar said Tourism Fiji’s 2019 Calendar of Activities specifically outlined the various activities they would undertake to keep the Fijian brand competitive in the global tourism market.

Ms Kumar said Tourism Fiji would continue to strengthen Fiji’s presence in strategic markets, boost emerging markets and continue to grow all core source markets.

As stated in their Tourism Fiji Industry Day 2018 booklet, six niche experiences have been identified as priorities that best align with the destination’s brand and will be further promoted through strategies to showcase the destination’s natural environment and its experiences.

“Fiji’s Bula Spirit is unique and world renowned. It’s a common element that binds the niches together and differentiates our niche experiences from those of our competitors,” the book stated.

The niche experiences include:
1. Romance — weddings, honeymoons.
2. Youth — volunteerism, educationals, graduate groups.
3. Dive — shark diving, soft coral.
4. Maritime — yachting/boating, cruise.
5. Sports & Adventure — fishing, surfing and golf.
6. Luxury — accommodation and experiences.

Tourism Fiji invests in events that align with Fiji’s brand values and deliver an increment return for Fiji.

The booklet states that more specifically, Tourism Fiji invest in events that deliver on two primary objectives which are to bring new visitors to Fiji that otherwise would not have visited and to showcase the best of Fiji to other potential visitors via international media coverage of the event.
