Former Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was among the crowd who showed up at Albert Park, Suva, last Saturday to support Fiji Cancer Society’s (FCS) World Cancer Day 2023 health walk.
Society CEO Belinda Chan said there was a need for everyone to take part in creating a cancer free Fiji by taking advantage of community screening services, being physically active and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya lauded the work FCS had done for cancer patients over the years.
She said through the ministry’s Rights Empowerment and Cohesion (REACH) program, the ministry was fully supportive of the FCS and its initiative in providing free cervical cancer screening closer to Fijians around the country.
Walk On Walk Strong (WOWS) Fiji founder Sina Kami also acknowledged FCS for its support over the years for children living with cancer.
Members of WOWS Kids and Diabetes Fiji also took part in the event.
