SIGATOKA Methodist High School and Cuvu College were crowned winners of the 2019 Coca-Cola Nadroga Navosa Zone meet at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

Sigatoka Methodist won 19 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals followed by Navosa Central College with six gold, eight silver and six bronze medals while St Theresa Secondary School finished in third spot with six gold, two silver and nine bronze medals.

Cuvu College ruled the boys division with 25 gold, eight silver and 10 bronze medals while Sigatoka Methodist College finished second with 12 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze medals.

Sigatoka Andhra finished third with five gold, nine silver and 10 bronze medals. Meet manager Ifereimi Turuva said the competition level had improved compared with the past years.

He said their competition for the past two days was a positive sign for the Nadroga schools at the Coca-Cola Games.

“We have been working to improve our performance since 10 years ago especially with the girls,” said Turuva.

“We were able to compete in the five top spots and that is our target at the moment and given the competition for the last two days we are getting there.”

He said Cuvu would be a force to be reckoned with in the 400m.

The school also won all the 4x400m relays in the boys division.

“Cuvu has been strong in the 400m as they won all the boys relay and also broke the records.

“If we worked with our plans in the next two weeks we just brush out our skills and better their qualifying time..

” Thirteen schools competed at the zone meet.
