SWIMMING Fiji president Ben Rova is urging swimmers to put in their best performance every weekend as the search continues to bring forward, Fiji next best in the water.

“All these competitions we are taking their times and ranking our swimmers,” Rova said.

“So the ones that are not participating, unfortunately they will miss out.”

Rova stressed that with the Pacific Games and Olympics, local swimmers were on the clock and needed to work hard.

“We know that some swimmers are hindered in preparation, yet every meet counted and we cant wait for them and we have to move on.”

Rova said with some top swimmers dropping out at the end of last year due to medical and personal reasons a status quo needed to be maintained, “So we need to try and establish our frontrunners and in case we have some swimmers opting out we have to make sure we have swimmers to fill the gaps. That is key now to identify those young talents this year and have a full year next year to work with them and prepare them for the 2023 Pacific Games.”
