Best for Fijiana 7s

FIJIANA 7s has named a strong squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games which will start on April 4 in Gold Coast, Australia.

Coach Iliesa Tanivula has named Elenoa Naimata as the 13th member of the team.

Team Fiji chef de mission to the Commonwealth Games Patrick Bower congratulated the players on the selection.

“We have several of the athletes chosen represented Fiji at the 2016 Olympic Games like Ana Roqica and Litia Naiqato for the women and Jasa Veremalua, Semi Tani Kunabuli and Jerry Tuwai for the men,” he said.

“We congratulate and wish each athlete chosen the best at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.”

Meanwhile, Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber said he had selected the best available 7s players for the Commonwealth Games.

“Competition for places in the team was intense as the players fought hard to prove their worth for a spot. In order to achieve our goal which is to win the gold medal, I had to select the best players to represent Fiji,” he said in a press release.

“We expect competition to be tough at the Commonwealth Games and will ensure that we leave no stone unturned in our preparation to ensure that the boys are physically, mentally and spiritually ready for whatever challenge is thrown as us.”
