The National Fire Authority has confirmed a bed-ridden woman died after she was trapped inside her home that caught fire this afternoon in Sarava, Ba.
The 41-year-old was alone at home at the time of the incident.
The NFA received the call at 1.50pm and responded.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the fire team found a three-bedroom corrugated iron house fully engulfed in flames,” said the NFA in a statement.
The fire crew managed to extinguish and control the fire.
“’It was very unfortunate that the body of a woman was found at the scene, believed to be one of the occupants of the house,” the authority said.
It is understood the deceased was bed-ridden and alone at home when the fire started, while her husband and son were away.
