TEN young women will be vying for the title of Miss Farmers as the annual Lautoka event kicks off next month.

National carrier Fiji Airways has also come on board as the major sponsor of the week-long festival.

Carnival committee president Vyas Deo Sharma said assistance had extended to people requiring medical treatment not available locally.

He said they were determined to raise the profile of the carnival.

According to Fiji Airways regional general manager Fiji and Pacific Islands Josefa Wivou, this is an amazing opportunity for the national airline.

“One of the reasons Fiji Airways as national carrier took part in this initiative is we have had a lot of feedback supporting, promoting and marketing our partners overseas yet we haven’t done so much in Fiji domestically,” he said.

The carnival will be held from June 15 to 22.
