FIJI beach volleyball has chosen its extended training squad of 16 men and 16 women for the Pacific Games after holding trials last weekend.

Director for Fiji beach volleyball Josese Tulele said the extended squad would have a series of training sessions until the Easter Games.

“We will be closely monitoring the players in terms of their fitness and progress throughout these few months before the Fiji Games which is in April.

“The team is training every day we are looking at their fitness which has to be up to par and they need to be injury free,” said Tulele.

From the 16 in the men’s team there are three overseas-based players who will be coming in April to attend the final trials.

“We have three players overseas namely Sakiusa Naivana, Mitieli Naborisi and Inia Korowale.

“They obviously cannot keep coming every month for training but they are doing their own training and will come to Fiji in April for the final scrimmage before we choose our final team,” said Tulele.
