MOTORISTS are being advised to be vigilant on the road during morning and afternoon rush hours.

Land Transport Authority CEO, Samuel Simpson said drivers must follow traffic signs where necessary as well as follow traffic movement indicated  by traffic officers from the Fiji Police Force on the road.

“Do not attempt to beat traffic as it could result in catastrophic road accident,” Mr Simpson said.

“Remember! The direction given by traffic officers take precedence over road signs, and traffic lights,” he said.

Here are road safety tips to follow while driving:

  • Wear your seat belt
  • Put the mobile phone away
  • Be mindful of speed limit
  • Check your blind spot every time
  • Don’t drive in someone else’s blind spot

Meanwhile, members of the public are also requested to help LTA in the reporting of traffic offences on the road by texting to 582.

Make sure to provide us important details such as date, time, vehicle registration number with your name for legitimate reasons.
