Rusiate Batiratu did not give up when a prospective career in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces was cut short during cadet training.
Today, at 34, he is the youngest high-ranked officer in the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS), holding the rank of assistant superintendent of corrections.
The proud father of one is the officer in charge of the Nasinu FCS facilities.
ASC Batiratu added another feather to his cap when he was awarded a medal in recognition of his nine years of service.
“I feel that I deserve this medal and I thank all those who have stood by me in my struggles, especially my wife Sereana Batiratu and my family,” the Nasautoka, Wainibuka native said.
“I believe God has a plan for us and if we submit ourselves to him, he will mould us for the purpose we were made and I speak from experience when I say this.”
