Banks’ association appoints Ram as new chairman

THE Association of Banks in Fiji (ABIF) has appointed HFC Bank’s chief executive officer Rakesh Ram as its new chairman.
This was confirmed by the Association’s executive secretary/treasurer Eta Bilitaki in a statement earlier today.
According to the statement, Mr Ram’s appointment is effective September 2018, succeeding outgoing chairman Frederic Reynaud, the former chief executive officer of BRED Bank (Fiji) Ltd who has been promoted to a higher regional position overseas.
The statement further adds that Mr Ram looks forward to the challenges of this role focused on building the profile of the association.
“This would be done through open communication with business entities and the general public,” the statement read.
“He would also maintain a strong rapport with industry bodies which would provide the mechanism for a healthy and constructive finance sector in Fiji.
“Our Association shall greatly benefit from Mr Ram’s leadership as he brings with him over 32 years of banking and finance knowledge and experience.”
Bank of Baroda’s chief executive officer Fiji Operations Sudhansu S. Khamari has been appointed as the deputy chairman.
Mr Khamari is an experienced banker who possesses immense knowledge and experience in banking, having served Bank of Baroda in various capacities for 20 years.
