Bank announces special disaster relief package

IN its bid to assist the victims of the recent natural disasters in Fiji, Westpac Bank has announced a special disaster relief package for its affected customers.

According to the Westpac’s regional head for the Pacific Kip Hanna the relief package took effect immediately with it offering:

* ‘repayment holiday’ for up to three months for existing home loans and investment property loans (that are not already subject to collection activity)

* temporary personal and business overdrafts for existing customers to allow access to emergency cash;

* businesses with existing loans (that are not already subject to collection activity) can request deferral of principal repayments for up to three months; and

* businesses can request restructuring without incurring the usual bank establishment fees. The bank also stressed that all requests were subject to existing credit policy and procedures.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and communities who have lost loved ones or are without homes or access to essentials like drinking water,” Mr Hanna said in a statement yesterday.

“We’re here to help our customers at this time of need and we are offering a package that will hopefully provide relief to those who have been affected by these severe weather systems.

“We’re committed to helping in the moments that matter and we strongly encourage anyone affected by these tragic events to get in touch with our staff to discuss ways we can ease the burden.”

Westpac customers who wish to take advantage of these relief measures should contact their relationship manager or local branch, or call Westpac Customer Service Call Centre on 132032.
