Bail extended for military officer on attempted murder charge

A 29-YEAR-OLD military officer who is charged with a count of attempted murder of his partner last year in Suva had his bail extended by the High Court in Suva.

Rajiv Krishan Padyachi appeared before High Court judge Justice Chamath Morais today.

It is alleged that Mr Padyachi attempted to murder his 35-year-old partner on September 15, last year in Colo-i-Suva.

The accused is alleged to have attempted to drown his partner while swimming in Colo-i-Suva.

State lawyer Shirley Tivao informed the court that they had finalised the agreed facts and the pre-trial conference checklist and submitted it to the defence.

The trial will begin next Monday for a week.
