VETERAN Fijian utility back Seremaia Bai scored a try for his new club Leicester Tigers as they rallied back to beat Sale Sharks 32-30 during their Aviva Premiership game at AJ Bell Stadium over the weekend.
And openside breakaway Julian Salvi scored the winning try, two minutes from the fulltime hooter to maintain the Tigers’ winning record against the Sharks.
Bai touched down his first try for his club pairing fellow Flying Fijian Vereniki Goneva in the midfield.
The Flying Fijian and Matthew Tait scored the visitors first half tries.
A record crowd of more than 11,200 who had packed into the Salford ground thought they were about to witness the Sharks’ first win over Leicester in more than five years after Steve Diamond’s men stormed into a 30-15 lead early in the second half before the Tigers bounced back, scoring 17 unanswered points.
Sharks four tries were scored by Chris Cusiter, Will Addison, Nathan Hines and centre Sam Tuitupou.
Meanwhile, Nikola Matawalu and Leone Nakarawa also helped their Glasgow Warriors side eased past Edinburgh 16-6 in the first leg of the 1872 Cup at Scotstoun Stadium over the weekend. Both players started off the bench.
Matawalu will join English club Bath rugby club in the season.
At Bath, Matawalu will feature alongside fellow countryman and England rugby winger Semesa Rokoduguni.
