Badminton prepares for top championship

FIJI Badminton Association will host the 2018 YD Sport Fiji Badminton National Championship this weekend at the Yat Sen Hall at Flagstaff, Suva.

The two-day competition will feature players who will be vying for a spot in the Fiji team to the Oceania Championship and the Oceania Junior Championship in Melbourne next year.

The competition will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events for men and women.

Fiji Badminton vice-president Andra Whiteside said the tournament would see top badminton players from the country competing.

“We are getting ready,” Whiteside said.

“This competition will include some of the best local players.”

The association is also on the road to prepare its players for the Pacific Games in Samoa next year.

“The players who will compete this weekend will also be vying for a spot in the Pacific Games in Samoa.”

The YD Sport Fiji Badminton National Championship will be held tomorrow and Sunday.
