European Union Ambassador Sujiro Seam believes backyard gardening plays a vital role in food security especially at community level.

In handing over water tanks and farming irrigation equipment to farmers of Macuata, Mr Seam said the EU has supported backyard gardening and community projects through ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) and would continue to  assist all Fijians including this COVID-19 period.

Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere encouraged the villagers to continue with their farming practices and backyard gardening to support their families.

“Such backyard gardening will ensure families have healthy and nutritious meals especially for the children,” he said.
