WORLD Boxing Foundation Australasian heavyweight Champion James ‘The Beast’ Singh celebrated his recent victory with his former Newtown Boxing Club yesterday.

“It’s always important to remember your roots,” said Singh.

“This was where it all started for me and to have come this far it was more than right to bring the belt back here,” the 24-year-old from Votua in Korolevu, Nadroga, said.

He said the journey had been a tough one for him with many obstacles along the way but he was happy the effort and sacrifices paid off.

“There have been a lot of ups and downs but the key is to never give up.

“I am blessed and thank the Almighty for giving me the strength.”

Newtown Boxing Club official Jone Loloma said the club had come a long way in grooming fighters, and were capable of much more.

“James Singh is evidence of the good work we do here,” Loloma said.

“I know the best is still yet to come and we will see more of the Newtown Boxing Club in the future.”
