THE Fiji 7s squad has started camp for the Oceania 7s at the Uprising Beach Resort grounds at Pacific Harbour.
The new-look squad under the guidance of Fiji 7s strength and conditioning coach Naca Cawanibuka and manager Ropate Kauvesi has been focused during their training sessions in the past few days.
Twelve new players are part of the camp.
“It’s good we have a couple of the senior boys coming back. We got Sami (Viriviri) there to help out and Kiti (Taliga) joining us,” Cawanibuka said.
He said seasonal campaigners such as skipper Osea Kolinisau and other Olympians together with Donasio Ratubuli, would join camp next Monday.
He said the Oceania 7s would help them prepare for the coming HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Present yesterday were Alifereti Veitokani, who is nursing some niggling injuries and members Timoci Sinati, Setareki Bituniyata, Risiate Tadulala, Ratu Nemia Cavuilati, Ratu Seru Cavuilati, Kalioni Nasoko, Joseva Levula, Meli Rusa, Daveta Koroitakali, Sevuloni Tawake, and Lepani Kurimudu.
Meanwhile, Fijiana interim 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula was quite confident of his players’ fitness levels and would continuously work extensively with his players as they prepare for the coming Oceania 7s and world series.
Their four new players who recently joined the national squad were Mereani Cuvu, Miriama Naiobasali, Adi Wainikiti Naiselesele and Sainate Savu.
