The Fiji 7s team head coach Gareth Baber was impressed with some of the players performances in the 2020 Marist 7s tournament in the past three days.

As the Welshman keeps a close eye on his training squad participating in the tournament he has also opened the doors to other untapped talents who might have impressed him during the competition.

“For the past three or four years I’ve been here these players have been playing in local tournaments and some were drafted in and some haven’t.

“There’s talent and I know there’s talent in Fiji and my job is to take that talent and see it grows in an international environment.

“I’m always looking for talent and like I said my job is to take that talent and make sure it grows,” said Baber.

The national sevens team mentor was impressed with the performance of Police White forward Rusiate Nasove.

“He’s incredibly fit and has a great work ethic and when you have that as a sevens players that’s completely special.

“In the sevens team he is probably the fittest player and he got a brighter future in front of him,” he added.

Meanwhile members of the Fiji 7s training squad played in their different clubs with Waisea Nacuqu, Livai Ikanikoda, Suliano Volivoli, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Terio Tamani, Rusiate Nasove and Rusiate Matai playing for the Police White.

Jerry Tuwai, Kaminieli Rasaku, Kitione Salawa and Anasa Qaranivalu featured for Barbarian Brothers.
