Ba schools drop team numbers

THE nine schools affiliated under the Coca-Cola Ba zone have reduced the number of their athletes to participate at this week’s Coca-Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Zone official Rosalia Raqato said the recent floods disrupted the athletes’ preparation and schools had been forced to feature their cream of athletes for the three days of competition.

She said most schools and homes were badly hit by the floods stopping the athletes from training.

“All schools will be participating but we have reduced the number of athletes,” said Raqato.

“We will only take the cream of athletes since most were badly affected by the flood.

“The recent floods really disrupted our training and these athletes have been working hard to showcase their best in Suva.”

She said the participating athletes had been urged to give their best during the Coca-Cola Games.

“Battling against top schools will be a huge challenge for these athletes but it will not deter them from giving their best.”

“The selected athletes are ready for the challenge and will use the floods related events to boost their campaign.”

The Ba schools will depart for Suva tomorrow.
