THE Ba Municipal Market will soon extend its opening hours.

This was after the issue was raised with the Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar during her visit to the Western Division over the weekend.

“We went to the Ba market, had meetings with the vendors and we had a very successful meeting,” she said.

“We talked about opening hours for Ba Municipal Market to be increased and they are happy to go along with that.

“It was a session where we had to compromise on a number of issues where I had to give in and they had to give in.”

Mrs Kumar said they had found a common path as a way forward.

Her recent tour of municipal markets in the Western Division also allowed her to see the progress on various projects that’s happening under this financial year.

She added the visit also helped her understand why some projects were not moving as fast as it should.

The Rakiraki market, she said was on the verge of completion and the opening would go ahead once they had the completion certificate.
