FULLBACK Vatiliai Turuva kicked his Ba team to secure a spot in the B-division semi-final after their 23-12 win over Beqa at Churchill Park yesterday.
His reliable boot earned 13 points to help the reigning champion maintain their unbeaten run in the competition.
Turuva’s spot-on and tactical kicks contributed immensely to the success of his team kicking three penalties and two conversions.
Team official Salesitini Gukirewa said the win had boosted the morale of the players to defend the title.
“We are happy with the outcome of the game even though we still have weaknesses to improve on,” he said.
“We have secured two wins out of two games and the focus is to improve on our remaining games.”
The side is yet to face Yasawa in the third pool game but the islanders have failed to show up in their previous two games against Beqa and Malolo.
“By the look of things we have booked a spot in the semi-final,” said Gukirewa.
“The boys also committed many unforced errors during the past two games and our aim is to work on our mistakes before the do or die semi-final.”
