FIJI 7s all-time top tryscorer Seremaia Tuwai, says receiving the 2019 Fiji Sportsman of the Year award on Saturday night was a timely escape from the normal 7s training routine.

But it did not take away the pressure as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series nears the halfway point.

“The pressure is always there,” Tuwai said.

“It’s all about teamwork. We went to the first two legs and are back in the country to our base camp at the Uprising Beach Resort. We work on what is needed and then on to the HSBC Los Angeles and Vancouver 7s.”

The Buca Bay native also stressed that teamwork was more important than ever now with the team to defend their Olympics gold medal later this year.

“It is all about the team, it’s never about the individual. We need to bring the team together and bond very well so we can go and play good rugby.”

Meanwhile, Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber claimed the 2019 Coach of the Year award.
