Australian connections for businesses

A conference intended to aid in the improvement of digital capabilities of Fijian businesses and government organisations could also provide a platform for the local BPO sector to make key connections with major Australian and global companies.

Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) CEO Simon Bush said, “One of the things we’ve built into the program for Fijian digital businesses is actually giving them a platform to pitch to those big companies from Australia and global companies that are coming over [to attend the conference]. There’s an opportunity for local Fijian businesses to pitch what they’re doing to these big companies and you never know where that leads.”

The association has already been in contact with Outsource Fiji, the Pacific Islands Forum, the Australian trade commission and the Fijian Government in order to organise and deliver the AIIA Pacific Islands Digital Capability Uplift Program.

“We would love to partner with the Fijian government and the Pacific Islands Forum perhaps, to explore what opportunities and capabilities there are for Australian businesses to support these Fijian and Pacific island businesses, because I think the challenge is getting the word out and I think that’s where the opportunity lies,” Mr Bush added.

“We’d be happy to support the Fijian economy and Fijian businesses to grow and expand into Australia.”

The two day program funded by AIIA is scheduled for February 6 and 7 at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva.

Those interested in attending the program are advised to reserve their spot through the AIIA website.
