ENGINEERS from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces have lifted the morale of the catastrophic Australian bushfire victims.
Australian Chief of Defence Force General Angus Campbell noted this in a short visit to the Blackrock Military camp in Nadi on Monday.
“There is no other better expression than to see RFMF engineers deployed to assist us in the bushfire crisis,”General Campbell said.
“They are working very hard down in Victoria and high mountain country where the forest fire is isolated in a number of smoke communities and they cleared the roads and make them safe for people of the community to travel.
“In the evening they bring out their guitars and morale in the community lifts, it is a wonderful contribution. ”
The engineers, he said, worked closely with their counterparts from Papua New Guinea, Japan and the USA.
He added he would seek assistance from Fiji should there be a need for more RFMF personnel.
