IN A bid to support Fiji’s efforts to promote prosperity, reduce poverty and enhance political stability, the Australian government has awarded 30 scholarships to 30 Fijians under the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship.

“We work closely with the Government of Fiji to determine the country’s priorities for development,” Australia’s High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes said today at the event.

Mr Feakes said the awards application process was open and competitive, providing equal opportunity to all eligible citizens in Fiji regardless of gender, ethnicity and disability.

Meanwhile, the Australia Awards are prestigious scholarships offered by the Australian Government to individuals who strive to be leaders in their respective fields and make a difference in their home country.

The awardees will be studying at the Fiji National University and the University of the South Pacific, in priority fields including; Midwifery, Early Childhood Education and Care, Building, Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Automotive Engineering.
