AUSTRALIA is deeply grateful to the Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and the Government of Fiji for sending the RFMF to assist in the recovery of the Australian bushfires.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes highlighted this during the Australia Day reception held at the Australian High Commission yesterday.

Mr Feakes while acknowledging the assistance provided by the Fijian Government to Australia and the renewed strength of its Vuvale partnership said”You don’t get through times like this alone. These are the times you need family. And in its response to these unprecedented bushfires, Fiji has shown that we are indeed vuvale.”

“To the Fijian Government, members of Parliament, the RFMF, local businesses, community groups, the Fijian diaspora in Australia, the people of Fiji, to all of you here tonight I say that with your support and your prayers Australia will recover. We will continue to prosper. We are tough and resilient and we are optimistic.”

The Fijian Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to continue to work closely with Australia in building a brighter future for the two nations and for the Pacific region as a whole.
